The drive leaving Skagway was incredible... again! :) That night we stayed in Haines Junction after stopping at a brewery in Whitehorse, Canada for some beverages to drink the next couple nights.
Yesterday we left Haines Junction and drove to the border. This portion of the road is the worst part of the Alaska Highway. It had some pot holes and a ton of frost heaves (the road looks warped from the permafrost layer beneath it). It is nice to have that section over with!! We took a wonderful canoe ride in a lake along the way. There were lilly pads and yellow flowers throughout the lake. Beautiful! We saw a few swans as well. We stopped at a campground in Tok, Alaska last night and enjoyed their all you can eat sourdough pancake breakfast buffet (reindeer suasage, fruit, juice, etc). It was nice to eat out for once!
Today we are driving to Valdez and we will spend 2 nights there. Valdez has a ton of glaciers and fishing, so I am looking forward to spending some time there.
